visual tools, "video"

Teaching a foreign language should be attractive and interesting for the learners, so the variety of materials is very important. One of those materials is video in order to teach the language visually. Visual teaching arouses the learners' attention to the language. For exlample, assessment with visual tools and giving feedback might be more helpful to correct mistakes. Thanks to the video use, students can be more enthusiastic to follow the assessment instead of ignoring tthe written feedback.

Ayrton Senna was born on March 21 1960. He was a Brazilian Formula One motor racing . He died on May 1, 1994, whilst leading a race in San Marino.
Senna was born in São Paulo. As a young boy, he quickly developed an interest in racing. Encouraged by his father, he got behind the wheel of his first kart at the age of four. He first entered competitions at the age of 13, and in 1977, he won the South American Kart Championship. Heading for Europe in 1981, he won the British Formula Ford 1600 competition.
In 1984, Senna secured a seat with the Toleman Formula One team. The next year, he joined the Lotus team. On April 21, 1985, he scored his first Grand Prix victory, thanks to an impressive display of wet-weather driving. At the end of 1985, he finished 4th in the World Championship with 38 points. His second season was even better. He finished the season with 55 points. In 1987 he ended third, with 57 points.
In 1988, Senna joined the Mclaren team with two-time World Champion Alain Prost. The foundation for a fierce between Senna and Prost was laid. It resulted in a number of dramatic race incidents between the two. The pair won 15 of 16 races in 1988 with Senna coming out on top.
The following year their rivalry intensified into battles on the track and a psychological war off it. This rivalry was typified by their race-long battle for victory in the 1989 German Grand Prix, which Ayrton won. Prost took the championship after Senna attempted a difficult and hit Prost’s car. Senna received much criticism for this later. However, it was arguably the only point on the track where Senna could pass Prost.
Senna's intentions for 1993 were not clear as he did not have a contract with any team. Senna tested Mclaren's 1993 car and he knew that the engine would be down on power. However, his start to the 1993 season was amazing. He finished second in the opening race in South Africa. Then, he drove with great skill to win in constantly changing conditions at home in Brazil and in the rain at Donington.
The success continued with a second place at Spain and a record breaking 6th win at Monaco. Even Senna though could not sustain this against unequal odds. As the season progressed Prost proved that the Williams-Renault package was simply better technically. He took the championship. Senna concluded the season with two fine wins in Japan and Australia. However, he would never win again.
Senna was most respected for his qualifying skill, a discipline he mastered like none before. It produced a record 65 pole positions out of 161 races. This record stood for 12 years after his death, before it was beaten by Michael Schumacher.
"Magic" Senna, as he was known to his fans, also won the Monaco GP six times, a record which stands today and earned him the title "Master of Monaco".
Ayrton described in detail an odd feeling that he got during qualifying. His experience when qualifying for the 1988 Monaco GP for example he described as like being in a dream:
‘...the last qualifying session. I was already on pole, then by half a second and then one second and I just kept going. Suddenly I was nearly two seconds faster than anybody else, including my team mate with the same car. And I realised that I was no longer driving the car consciously. I was driving it by a kind of instinct, only I was in a different dimension. Then suddenly something just kicked me. I kind of woke up and realised that I was in a atmosphere than you normally are. My immediate reaction was to back off, slow down. I drove slowly back to the pits and I didn't want to go out any more that day. It frightened me because I was well beyond my conscious understanding. It happens rarely but I keep these experiences very much alive inside me because it is something that is important for self-preservation.’
Gerhard Berger, a close friend, expressed a memory of what it was like qualifying with Senna:
‘I remember one weekend in Imola where I went out, I set the time. He went out, he was a bit quicker. I went out, I was than him. He went out, he was quicker than me, and then it goes forwards, backwards -- ping pong -- until close to the end of the qualifying and it was the last set of tyres, and he was sitting in the racing car, me in my one, and he got out, walked over to my one and said, 'Listen, it's gonna get very dangerous now,' and I say 'So what? Let's go!'
Contrasting to Senna's intense and will to win on the track, his exploits off it were more humane: In 1992 in Belgium when Érik Comas had crashed heavily other drivers drove past at high speed. Senna could be seen jumping out of his car. Putting his own life in danger, he ran down the track to the wrecked car to reach inside and hit the electrics kill switch, to prevent a fire.
After Senna's death it was discovered that he had given millions of dollars of his personal (estimated at $400 million) to children's charities. During his life he had kept this fact a secret.
In the film "The Right to Win" made in 2004, Frank Williams recalls that as good a driver as Senna was, "he was a greater man outside of the car than he was in it."

Benefits of the Corpus Tools

In the class, we learnt corpus tools through the sites such as http://corpus.byu.edu/coca/ and http://www.wordandphrase.info/ . These sites are very useful to analyze both my own writing and the writings to be prepared for my students. They gives us a chance to check each word with its further uses. In the first site, we can find collocations, grammatical constructions, allophones. It contributes to enhance our writings as a student. Varible areas of using words create a wide range of writing style. In the second site, It is recognizable that words, phrases and texts can be analyzed in terms of their frequency. Being able to have a brilliant command of choosing each word minimizes possible misunderstanding in our classes. For instance, when we analyze our handouts prepared for our students in terms of their readibilities and comprehensibilities by taking into account their level, we have to also know that choosing each word and phrase included in our texts should be appropriate for their level in terms of frequency and academic use. Therefore these sites are very useful. I will use them in my language classes because they encourage the students to improve their awareness of word choice within different contexts.I will teach my students how to use them so as to help them enhance themselves in their writings. I have also used swiftkey keyboard in my mobile phone for a week. I knew this app before I had my current phone. In my previous phone, the keyboard in it has the same features. It was not swiftkey because of its operating system, windows. However, I am used to using it again now. I will encourage my future students to use this applications because it both save our own words and correct spelling errors. I suggests possible complements after written words It means that it shows the collocations while they are texting. In academic writings, it cannot be used or it is not a very reliable source, but in daily life there is no objection to use it. If there is someone to install this app to their phone this is the link: https://swiftkey.com/tr

There goes my heart again
All of this time I thought we were
Nothing looks the same when your eyes are open
Now you're playing these games to keep my heartbeat spinning
You show me , you show me love
You show me everything my heart is of
You reshape me like butterfly origami

You have broken into my heart
This time I feel the blues have departed
Nothing can keep me away from this feeling
I know I am falling for you

I'm taking time to envision where your heart is
And justify why you're gone for the moment
I tumble sometimes, looking for
And you know this is right when you look into my eyes
You show me love, you show me love
You show me everything my heart is capable of
And now I can't away from this fire that we started

There my heart goes again
In your arms I'm falling deeper
And there's nothing to break me away from this

Personal expectations from a technology integrated teaching

When I will start teaching, I will be able to achieve the level of authentic adoption in technology integration in my opinion. Actually, I am not an advanced user of technology in my daily life. I have some difficulties in complying with the technology. The reason why I slog on dealing with it is that I did not pass an technology integrated educational system in my previous secondary or high school years not all that. However, thanks to the facilities of the university and newly gained approaches push me to be integrated with it. Now, I have recognized that new generation and their learning style are totally different from mine, and I have to be engage with it as a prospective teacher. In ELT department, We have some courses in which we are doing microteachings. In our microteachings, we have to use some methods and some integrated skills for our learners. The most important point in our teachings is our teaching materials. They should be interesting. Our students should be able to associate the materials with the real life. Briefly, we have to choose authentic materials for our students. I think guided use of technology is what I can achieve in my class. For instance, I can use an authentic listening text such as a hotel reservation in a while-listening activity or for techniques of top-down, bottom-up. However, I can face with some problems during this integration. Facilities of the school is really important for this process. If the teacher does not have enough option of technology in the class, then the intention of the integration might not be achieved successfully. For example, the teacher cannot use a CD player all the time in the class where there is no computer. The teacher cannot use cyclopes in the class where there is no projector. So, the lack of facilities can paint into a corner the teachers. Furthermore, the personalities of the students should be taken into account. Technology integration encourages the students' collaborative skills instead of competitive ones with communicative activities via the softwares or some useful websites on the Internet. However, some students might not want to work as a group. Some of them might be shy or some might think that they are better at individual works. Then, the teacher should overcome these personal obstacles. If I have such problems in my class, I firstly comfort my students by modelling each easy activity and then incorporating them into the techniques. When they see themselves achieving the tasks, then they will be encouraged. Without using technology in the class, both teachers and students fall behind the world. The world has been changing with the technology. Teachers should bring their students up by keeping up with all the other students in the world.

Different Digital Literacies

Differences in time period cause different perception of technology between distinct generations. When I start to teach, I will probably face with some different digital literacies of my students from mine because all of us are in such a digital world that everything in any branches such as education, business or engineering is changing day by day thanks to the use of technology, and new generations are being grown up with the exposure of those changes in the 21th century. Thus, teachers have to be prepared to be engage with the technology use in their classes and integrate it to their lesson plans. A number of teachers choose to teach how they learnt in their education life. However, this era is totally different from which was in 90s or even the very beginning of the 21st century, so the class which is in front of the teachers is not the same as the class they sit together as a student. For instance, students do not check an unknown word from their pocket dictionaries because there is another easy way to find the meaning of that word with more detailed explanations which can be accessed via the Internet with the use of their cell phones, tablets or electronic dictionaries. If the teacher wants them to check unknown words from pocket dinctionaries, then students might be shocked and find this request really absurd because they have a chance to reach them in an easier way, so the perception of the teachers should be on the same path with their students. Resisting to be obsessed to the traditional teaching with really old-fashioned methods and tools cannot live anymore together with the unprecedented learning style of students. Whatever is not new is not acceptable in this day and age. The main reason why the students start to learn with interactive whiteboard, computers instead of handwriting what is on the blackboard is technology and digital world. While the world has been changing, we cannot be stick to the older teaching styles. Cutting-edge technology use in learning and teaching area is a must today because the experience of technology usage in learning process with the same digital literacies contibutes to the rest life of the students positively such as in business. Technology enhances the students while they are learning, so it triggers them to think more and develop their creativity. These criterias are required for the life like in world class. The world has being changing and teachers should be a bridge to make students access this changing world thanks to the technology. When I think about my students, I just put myself into their shoses, and it pushes me to remember the conditions of learning in my primary and secondary school such as availibility of digital tools and facilities of digital resources. Actually, I did not learn with computers, projectors. However, I know that the class environment is really different now. Schools try to provide accessibility to digital resources for the students. I completely support this effort, but still telephone use in the class is not very appreciative because students sometimes lose their attention to the lesson and start to text someone via whatssapp or check the notifications on facebook with their smartphones. It is not something happening certainly, but mostly they are doing this. I think tablets which are provided by the school can be used to reach any information instead of smartphones.
